FEST / BEMUS Illustration 2020

Presented illustrations were designed for renowned Belgrade festivals, BEMUS (Belgrade Music Festival) and FEST (International Film Festival). Designed T-shirts were part of the official Gifts selection in Beogradski izlog shop for the year of 2020.
This illustration shows a traditional Serbian motif with movie tape added on the edges. 
The goal is to indicate the importance of our tradition for the future, as well as to unify creativity, tradition and culture into one symbol. For the same reason, a retro typeface was used to display the festival name. 
Illustration represents tram line 2, also known as the Deuce, a centenary symbol of Belgrade. Despite all the changes the city went through, the Deuce has never changed its route. The T-shirt image displays a tram moving on a tram rails made of a movie tape hinting at the strong connection between the city and the festival. 
The illustration represents a film camera stand with a human eye on top of it. Replacing the camera with an eye symbolizes the importance of human creativity that stays as a testimony of times by artists. The eye also represents the art lovers without who the art would not last as a “creative being”. 
This design shows a vinyl record in the center, with lined around it representing barcode and a gramophone needle on them, and text BEL GRA DE on their ends. Barcode lines symbolize the uniqueness of the BEMUS festival. The vinyls are nowadays considered a symbol of cultural prestige, bringing back the crackly analogous sound with a bang. 
This design represents Pobednik monument made by Ivan Meštrović, a visual symbol of Belgrade standing proudly at the Kalemegdan fortress, overlooking the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers. The monument’s pedestal is replaced by a pencil, once often used by many to rewind audio cassette tapes. The cassettes have not only survived over half a century of use, but are also still an object of artistic expression, as shown by this T-shirt design. 
Design represents a VHS tape cassette replaced by newer media two decades ago.
The tape is shown in its characteristic casing intended to evoke memories of the generations who used to get the video home systems from abroad for large sums of money. 
Once revolutionary, the VHS has been forgotten despite its common use in everyday life, along with video clubs replaced by the internet.
