Crimson aurora farewell

I’m thrilled to share with you this recent painting ”Crimson aurora farewell” I painted this last weekend, and it is the thirteenth in a new series exploring the spirit of adventure in all of us. Distant shores, great voyages, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our world.

As the early pre-dawn light kissed the horizon, Mia headed her craft out from the harbour.

Far above in the cobalt blue heavens, the wild ribbons of the spectacular crimson Aurora luminesced as she watched in awe.

She’d heard stories of these rare red auroras, but in all the her years on the oceans this was her first sighting.

Slowly they faded as the sun prepared to make its appearance on the horizon, bidding her farewell.

As she watched the lighthouse fade into the distance she bid a fond farewell herself to Iceland and land.

It would be many days before she saw her next destination.
