This book is about the journey of the author's father, Kaushal Jain, who was a social entrepreneur. It is a collection of file photos, handwritten letters and short write-ups which reflects the challenges he overcame and his commendable contributions to the society.

The author, Kunal Jain is a resident of Florida. In 2015 he flew to India to meet his father who was unwell. Unfortunately Mr. Kaushal Jain was unconscious by the time his son reached India, in the 'Genesis of the book" section the author mentions that:

"The pain of not reaching my father sooner, of not being able to speak to him in person one last time, will haunt me forever. Working on this book has been a cathartic journey for my family and me. We hope that through it, you will get a real sense of Kaushal Ji’s life."

This 7x10 inches book was printed with both hardbound and softbound covers and

The project can be divided into 4 parts:

Part 1: Photo Editing and Restoration

This was an interesting and a challenging project because I was supposed to include lots of pictures...very old pictures.

Over 158 old photos and handwritten letters were scanned and shared with me.

Each photo was edited to adjust the lighting and sharpness. A lot of them were retouched to remove stains (black dots), creases and torn edges. 

Part 2: Page Layouts (150 pages)

Lots of images of different sizes meant lots of different page layouts and more scope to play with the design and formatting.

Part 3: Font Selection and Text Formatting

Part 4: Book Cover Design (Front and back)
