The extinction of whales | Layered paper box

Humpback whales are on the verge of extinction, as Climate Change raises the temperature of seawater and the whale's food sources decline. As a result, female whales do not get enough nutrients to get pregnant.

Use a hundred pounds of paper to gradation from blue which conveys low temperatures to red which conveys high temperatures. The size is 20x20cm and Die-cut to a submarine mirror shape that attaches a clear acrylic sheet behind it and when you look out, you can see whales under the sea.

Use Layering techniques to visualize whales that are in cold water as normal whales because attached gray paper behind the first sheet. But when the water heats up, the whale turns red. To convey the impact it has had and gradually reduce the number to none.

The workpiece is designed to be in a square box that can pull out a sheet of paper from a thermometer-shaped handle on the side of the box so that the audience can interact with the workpiece.
