book design - the picture of dorian gray
In this project the idea was to make a new design for a book, as well as exploring the design techniques of how to edit and prepare text for a literary piece.
The book chosen for this project was "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. Dorian Gray is a novel telling the rather Gothic story of a young man whom the book owes its name to. Dorian is introduced to the readers as being the adored subject of a painter named Basil Hallward who paints his best work in the opening chapters - Dorian's portrait. The more you read the more you see visually his mentality decaying.
