Quilt of Sky: Tie-Dye On Woollen Felt Textile

A range of felt products designed by the tie-dye of handmade woollen felt.

This felt project has been designed in-collaboration with CSWRI- Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Rajasthan. The purpose of this project was to explore the various possibilities of tie-dying in woollen felt.

Theme: Under the Quilt of Sky
As the theme suggests, we have experimented with various shades of a stargazing night, i.e. indigo dye on handmade woollen felt.
Technique:

Product 1: The lamp: The red felt has been dip-dyed in indigo. After sun-drying, cut-outs has been made of desired shape on the felt and the ends are stitched to get the desired shape of the hanging lamp.

Product 2: The Cushion: The base material has ben tie-dyed in a manner so as to render the feeling of clouds. Indigo dye has been applied on white felt. The moon and the small clouds has been patchworked and hand-embroidered. The cushion has been stuffed with waste felt pieces.

Product 3: Pencil Pouch: The base material has been dip dyed and the owl and leaves has been patchworked and hand-embroidered.
