Lebanese Playing Cards

Wara’ sar el Lebnene) is the deck of( ”ورق صار اللبناني“ cards born from the reality of everyday life. Having all the features of the Lebanese currency, this “wara’” (deck of cards) aims mainly to preserve the beauty, the value and the finesse of our pounds, repelling all sorts of hatred and despisal. It focuses on creating a new perspective that opens up a new world lost between the patterns, the calligraphy and the details each and every paper money has. “Wara’ sar el Lebnene” is just a simple way of pushing us forward into restoring the formal glory of our beloved Lira.
The main mission and vision behind the whole project are the promotion of Lebanese designer’s creativity and the support of the local economy, by publishing a new version reflecting the Lebanese identity on a set of cards that has infinite ways to create games known everywhere on the planet, and meant to be distributed in Casinos mainly (a place where money is the only game).
Promote an economy, while playing with money, holding a pack of money inspired cards as a hand in your hand? Why not?

How is it going to happen?
-Using the patterns of our fully beautifully decorated banknotes (squares, diamonds, waves, florals....)
-Using the Arabic calligraphy present in every corner (letters and Numbers)
-Using the cold colour range for the Clubs and Spades, and the warm range for the hearts and diamonds
-The Jacks : are to be named Erech (penny) -The queens : are to be named Lira (pound) -The kings : are to be named Abou Lira (Stingy avaricious Man)
- Jokers : are to be considered as blank “Banque du Liban” checks
