No Man's Land

In 1916, a large battle took place in Verdun, one of the western French fronts.
There is a sound of fire everywhere and a shower of bullets. To occupy only a few inches of land, countless soldiers rush to the front line knowing death.
After the desperate battle, a soldier who is left alone is lost in deep thought, recalling the horrors of the last battle.

"No Man's Land" is based on the Battle of Verdun, one of the largest battles on the Western Front of World War I in 1916.
The Battle of Verdun lasted a total of 303 days, with approximately 714,231 casualties and 377,231 French and 337,000 German. It is recorded as one of the longest and most terrible war of attrition in human history.

(The chariot featured in the work is the 'Schneider CA1' and is France's first. It was not actually used in the Battle of Verdun, but was added for the work.)

1916년 프랑스 서부전선 중 한 지역인 베르됭 지역에서 큰 전투 가 펼쳐졌다.
사방에서 포화 소리가 들려오고 총알이 빗발치고 있다. 고작 몇 인치의 지역을 점령하기 위해 수많은 병사가 죽음을 알면서도 적진으로 돌격한다.
처절했던 전투가 끝나고 홀로 남겨진 한 병사가 지난 전투의 참상을 회상하며 깊은 생각에 잠긴다.

'No Man's Land'는 1916년 제1차 세계 대전 서부전선에서 가장 거대한 전투 중 하나인 '베르됭 전투'를 모티브로 하였다.
'베르됭 전투'는 총 303일간 지속되었으며, 전투로 인해 대략 714,231명에 전몰자가 발생했고, 이 중 프랑스군이 377,231명, 독일군이 337,000명으로 추산하고 있다. 인류 역사상 가장 길고 가장 끔찍한 소모전 중 하나로 기록된 것이다.

(작품 중 등장하는 전차는'Schneider CA1'로 프랑스 최초의 전차이다. 실제 베르됭 전투에는 사용되지 않았지만, 작품을 위해 추가하였다.)
