Cantilever Stool

Furniture
Cantilever Stool designed for a material and joinery exploration course.
The design has a minimilast approach, and combines comfort with modernity.
I have used clean, straight lines and there is a seamless flow in the interaction of different materials.
The M.S frame can be used as an armrest or a backrest.
I have used Teak wood, square Mild Steel pipe,
Plywood and Foam upholstered with cloth and Bamboo(for dowels).

I have explored various joineries for the combination of materials -
Tenon & Mortise, Dowels, Half-Lap joints have been used for the wooden pieces.
The M.S. frame has been inserted into grooves and then secured using metal plates screwed into the wood.

Details of the joinery.

The stool was a part of the furniture display for the 2011 Convocation at NID.
