Tablets vs paper Textbooks: Informational Microsite Design
The idea of the project was to create a micro site illustrating one of the modern topics with a confrontational nature. I chose the topic Tablets vs. Printed textbooks. I had to collect all the argument, organize them logically and present to the public for them to help them make up their mind. On the home page I have the information on the topic such as the history of the argument and people involved. Then I designs pros and cons pages using z-styled layout. On the forth page I have all the sources lifted. I had to use different kinds of visual media to present information. A part of the requirement was the call to action which I added to each page. People are asked to vote or they can participate by adding more arguments to either of the sides.
How has Project 03 been valuable for your major?
My major is Web design and development. The value of this project was  tremendous. During this project I went through all the steps of design process. I did a research. I collected information and inspiring ideas and designs. I made a storyboard, a collage and cards with pieces of information that I sorted and organized into categories.
I made some paper drafts and tried out different wire frames and layouts. I worked on a digital draft and started collecting user background from early stages of the project. Based on this feedback my design evolved throughout several weeks and repeated user testing into what you can see now. I changed the color scheme and changed the layout several times but I think the end result is a great way to present the topic I chose. I worked on making it simpler and clearer to have the information presented in a logical way to help user make up their mind and make a decision.
I used different visuals such as bubble diagrams, a radiant chart, a bar chart, some visual representations of data to illustrate pros and cons. I made a history diagram where I showed the changes over time connected to the matter.
I can’t praise good feedback enough. It really helped me to make my design better. I was happy to see how it evolves and changes for better.
