Singapore Treasures - A commentary project on local dining culture
Designed by Leow Yuan Kai & Eddy Tan

By creating a series of objects that celebrate Singapore's dining culture, Singapore Treasures is a short presentation of how we might re-look at our Kopi-tiam (coffeeshops), hawker centers and other themed eateries in our country.
The Kopi-Kup
The "Kopi-Kup" makes visible the relationship between the long period of stay of the "ah cheks" in the hawker center and their favorite drink.

The cup slowly loses its clarity, invoking cheap plastic feel over time. The element of time is embodied in this change

The Jaga Chair
"Chope" is a unique local culture where objects such as tissues and umbrellas are use to reserve seats.

The Jaga chair allows stamping of seats with ones own silhouette by spending a duration with it.

The Marblur Table
Today, artisan-made marble top table has been replaced with our current-day pragmatic sensibilities in the kopitiam.

The change between its two appearance highlights the lost of materiality and question if nostalgia can be depicted through an artificial settings.
