Crayola Crayons – The Village Press Olive Oil

The Crayola depicts an image of class and elegance. This is achieved through a simplistic white on black design with a dash of colour.  The negative space combined with the tight streamline text further contributes to the elegance of the product. The pristine finish makes The Crayola appear very expensive, giving it a classy feel. The Crayola Crayons appeal to an adult upper class market that wishes to buy the best quality drawing crayon.

The Village Press olive oil appears cheap and playful. The playfulness is achieved through the use of bold bright colours and the cluttered design makes the product appear cheap. The hand drawn imagery and multiplefonts make the oil seem like a fun and playful product. This indicates that the Village Press is for someone who wants to have fun cooking, perhaps a younger target market. However the fun and playfulness of the product combined with the colours may cause a sense of unease with buyers due to the fact that bright yellow is an unnatural colour.
