Why is reading romance novels important?

Romance novels and romance novel writers show that real love—while not easy—is still possible. Doesn't just because ideal love is tough imply we have to abandon romance (and romance fiction) entirely? Shouldn't we instead put in the effort and strive for stronger, more positive relationships? Romances, like suspense, fantasy, or legal thrillers, can provide a welcome diversion from the harsh and demanding world we live in. No one would judge someone for becoming engrossed in a romantic film. Romance novels are also a viable option for a relaxing holiday. Those of us who enjoy a well-written romantic novel will have to ignore the critics, stand tall, and keep reading and creating what we enjoy.
