Peru - Quechua and their textiles
My husband and I had planned a trip to Peru three decades ago. But we canceled the trip because of the unrest in Peru caused by Shining path.

In 2019 we planned another trip to Peru to see Macchu Pichhu and flew to Cuzco.
But as fate would have it we had to cut short our trip as I developed severe abdominal pain at the high altitude and on doctor's advice returned home after being in Cuzco for 3 days.

My interest in textiles and old weaving traditions made me appreciate the traditional attire of Peruvian  Quechua people.

On Peruvian textiles, the pallay (“designs” in Quechua) are centuries-old representations of the natural environment and demonstrate the inspiration of indigenous artisans. Each pallay is unique to the region where the textile is woven. Each item bears a name drawn from the Quechua language, whose beautiful rhythms have echoed through the Andes for centuries.
