Montreux Jazz Festival - Visual Identity

Montreux Jazz Festival has been a must-see festival for jazz purists since 1967. It is also a place that has hosted for over 50 years the biggest names in music (Bowie, Prince, Deep Purple, Nina Simone ...) It is a place that generates legendary performances recorded on video since the creation of Montreux Jazz part of the UNESCO heritage.
However, the festival is served by its name reducing it to jazz and a non-existent visual identity with an unchanged logo.

How to make people realize that Montreux Jazz is not only a jazz festival but an experience in its own right?

By creating 15 festivals at the same time with 15 visual identities on the same base to highlight the 15 musical styles of the 2022 edition.
The identity is created to capture the diversity of the festival through a typographic system of 15 different fonts and 2 colors for each.

The new logo in the form of a cartouche reminds us of the audio tracks that can be modulated as you wish to create something different each time. It's a way to show the digitalization of the festival but also its unique experiences thanks to a logo that can be declined, flexible and unique.
The mass variety of styles, especially when contrasted together, help to highlight the cultural diversity and mass variety of musics that the Montreux Festival offers.

A flexible and adaptable baseline highlighting the diversity and experience of a festival that cannot be found anywhere else
The posters are based on the same layout, like an institution that doesn't move, but with things happening inside.
Each design, each experience, each style is unique.

The website is a musical experience
Montreux partners with Spotify for an OOH campaign based on the platform's anonymous user data to target hardcore fans
Montreux exploits its music archives in the form of a random library site that takes the user randomly through more than 3000 concerts in all eras.
