Project Summary:
Your task is to redesign, re-energize and reimagine the signage and environment for your client/business. You will research, analyze, and develop conceptual strategies and schematic drawings to improve the overall space, graphics, signage for a better customer experience. Schematic drawings will focus on location signage (exterior main sign, windows); interior signage, super graphics (wall graphics) menu board, and interior furnishings/finishes. Improving the overall experience by re-envisioning the interior space. Utilize your design skills utilizing EGD approaches to information and placemaking techniques for a better customer experience.
Who is Hokkaido Sushi:
Hokkaido is a small mom-and-pop Japanese restaurant owned by Chef Qui and his wife Wendy. They opened around December before the pandemic hit in March of 2020. They have persevered throughout this tough time and are still going strong. Chef Qui has worked in restaurants in Manhattan and brought his talents to Laredo in his own restaurant. The food is authentic and unlike any asian food Laredo has seen or tasted before. They are family owned and operated. Chef Qui and Wendy are both very friendly and love striking up conversation with guests.

To first solve our redesign project I visited the location to take photos and get a better feeling of the environment and of course, an excuse for some great food. I then got to work on creating a new logo for them to use that can then branch into a design system. This would allow for a better brand consistency that is currently lacking in their social media and website.
