The youth living the modern era are going through sense of deprivation and dejection from the society imposing overheating competitions and ever so plummeting employment rate. My work, <Dokkebi Gaboo>, act as a main agent that provide protection; and give courage and confidence to our intimidated youth fighting wars of fierce competitions. ‘Dokkebi’, similar to Nothern Europe’s ‘trolls’, is a regular in Korean folklore that enjoy the company of people and serve a guardian role by repelling evil spirits. The brooch of <Dokkebi Gaboo> is used as an instrument to give the youth extraordinary power and energy such as courage & confidence; and to provide protection from lurking harms just the way the cape of the Superman and the suit of the Iron-Man does. 

According to the traditional folklore, spirits come to indwell abandoned objects become ‘Dokkebi’. They provide confidence to modern people who are vulnerable to defeats from social competitions and provide ways to demonstrate individual’s needs on society and express daunted inner self. The brooch of <Dokkebi Gaboo> shaped after mythical creatures from Korean folklore is a hollow fantasy, it provides a helpful instant to psychological reality when you wear it.
