ISTD COMPETITION BRIEF 'FAKERY'
This project is about ‘fakery’ and ones personal interpretation of it. Theme is masquerade. Creating a ‘how to guide’ in creating your own masquerade ball and also incorporating other aspects such as the correct mask choice, to the style of the venue etc. It explains in stages how to create your own masquerade ball from start to finish.The aim is to make the book feel glamorous and in keeping with the classic style using various colours and styles. Using inspiration taken from different masks that have been personally acquired and an in depth look at other masquerade related materials. This book not only intends to help the user define a style and create their very own masquerade themed party, but also educate the user on the history and reason’s behind hosting a
masquerade ball.
This interpretation of fakery is the based on the concept of hiding behind a mask ‘the hidden truth’ and the up most importance of not revealing one’s self to others, ‘secrets’. The Masquerade theme allows exploration into this avenue of fakery.
