“When we identify ourselves with a character,
a situation or a place, we are absorbing
some of the emotions of it all.
Experiences lived and felt in the stories
connect us and can generate a deep and
lasting impact on our lives.”
Maria Cristina Pisoni Tiburi

Classic pieces of literature and regional folklore were represented in
these illustrations, but in an abstract and figurative manner. This was done
in order to deviate from realistic representations of known characters and to
enable the readers with a chance to see themselves in these stories.
I had a ton of fun with this project, and I'm very happy with the result.

All these representations were constructed from the same
basic shape, reinforcing the idea that the reader has the
possibility to be anything they wish to be.
