Website for Charles Benoit

A project done for Intro to Web Design, to create a website for local author Charles Benoit. My goals with this design were to create an atmosphere of anxiety and frustration to fit with his teen noir novels. I wanted the imagery to imply violence, but remain ambiguous.

In adition to that, I wanted to build this website by taking the design "off the screen." All of the imagery that I created for this was done with ink on paper and edited through photoshop to produce the effects seen, in order to create a more natural, but also more tense appearance.
The home page, which included lnks to the three main sections of the website. Hover transitions on the links turned the blue boxes red on hover.
The Books page included links to each of his six books, split into two categories. Hover transitions on the links turned the red boxes blue on hover.

The books link on the navigation bar also allows a drop down menu to access each of the books without going through this page.
An example of a book page. This also shows the hover transition on the navigation bar.
