Côte d'Azur
FRENCH RIVIERA
This 75 miles of romantic coastline in southern French is also known as Côte d'Azur or "Coast of Blue." It began as a winter health resort for the British upper class at the end of the 18th century. The glamour and sophistication of the region quickly attracted artists, writers, and intellectuals, who were drawn to its warm climate, beautiful landscapes, and vibrant cultural scene. Throughout the 20th century, the Côte d'Azur continued to attract the wealthy and famous, becoming one of the world's most famous and sought-after destinations. Karl Lagerfeld once said: "You were never told that Saint-Tropez is paradise?"
I visited Côte d'Azur twice, and every time I have this strange desired to throw my passport on the sea and pretend to be stuck in this place forever. Enjoy!
Thank you for traveling with me!
This is part of my ongoing travel visual clips, where I share a glimpse of my travel visuals and thoughts. Each series features a paragraph about the history of the place, followed by a paragraph describing my thoughts while exploring that place. Accompanied by no more than fifteen carefully curated images that I took, each series is intended to give you the umami of travel. - Julius Yls
