                                                    Free Range lighting products for
                                                                    IKEA , sweden

The project was to design free range of lighting products (lamps) for IKEA. By free range, it means the limited edition (not a part of regular collection) products which IKEA introduces in its collection to bring a change and exclusivity in the ongoing collection.
The process started with iniatial research, public survey and its analysis. Studying and analysing about the existing IKEA products, their features, design language, etc led to the first brain storming. The following were the key words kept in mind, before visualising the concepts :

Simple     Flat Pack     Modern/ Contemporary     Knock-Down   Monocrome

After looking at the keywords, trend forecasts and moodboard different concepts were made. On the basis of engineering, design elements, and many discussions with the project head, 15 major concepts were shortlisted. These concepts was prototyped, and each one of them was analysed/ shortlisted on the basis of strengths, weakness and limitations.
At last, the following lighting products(lamps) were made.

Each lamp  went through the series of lighting product's testings, which are :
SALT SPRAY TEST
ROHS
COLOUR FASTENERS / FORMALDEHYDE TEST
Endurance TEST
HIGH VOLTAGE TEST
CONTINUITY/ FUNCTIOANL TEST
PULL TEST
TORQUE TEST
STRAIGHTNESS GAUGAE TEST
TILT TEST

The products also have to be flat packed. So, packaging was also designed for each of the final products. Later, again there were changes made in the designs, in order to make it knock-down and flat pack.
