Tactile Book Covers

This assignment was one we could choose for the subject of Typographic Design 3. I wanted to re-design old classic book covers (although I still love collecting the penguin covers), so that it was my interpretation of what I read. I hope you enjoy.
This is the first book cover I did for the second assignment for Typographic Design 2. I bought some silk fabric, beaded together some pearls, also photographed feathers and crystals to create a story on the cover. I found it hard to not go too overboard with the whole 'Tactile Typography' style so I tried my best to tone it down and still make it look elegant and readable.
The theme was meant to be organic. I love a classic book and to have a book cover to match it makes you want to read it all over again.
This is my favourite. I wanted it to look exotic and interesting as most people don't really want to read classic books. My sister said exactly that "Oh, I haven't read Treasure Island. It looks good!"
