DART 2021 Strategic Planning Infographic

Every year, the internal creative team at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is tasked with creating a visual communications tool to represent the major goals and intiatives of the public transit agency for that fiscal year.

In 2021, the design needed to support a broad range of initiatives, including capital construction projects for the new Silver Line Regional Rail, which connects to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, and the D2 Subway, a proposed second downtown alignment for the DART Light Rail System..; The image also had to include several of DART’s technological innovations: the GoPass® mobile ticketing and trip-planning application; the GoPass® Tap contactless transit pass card; and interactive digital kiosks at rail stations and transit centers. Finally, the design had to incorporate a reference to DARTzoom: A New Bus Network, the agency’s massive effort to completely redesign its regional bus system.
Using Adobe Illustrator to create graphic elements and Adobe InDesign to combine those elements into comprehensive designs, DART created a modular infographic which could be composed horizontally or vertically as needed. Individual elements could be removed, or new ones (like the electric bus) could be added to meet specific visual communications requests. ​​​​​​​
This infographic series was used on high-profile, stakeholder-facing publications, such as the agency’s FY 2021 Business Plan, quarterly financial reports and departmental strategic plans.
