Basquiat's Dreamland - Textile Intervention
1. Basquiat's portrait - As a tribute to his early works on canvas, this work is configured as a reinterpretation of his mythical canvas with wooden planks, but exchanging the planks for pipes, which support a tapestry portrait of the artist. His figure is at the centre of the image, with some recurring symbols in his works, reconstructing the identity of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
2. Dreamland - The diptych is based on the concept of the oppression of the black race, which is so influential in the artist's work.
Elaborated in two pieces, it tries to show the contrast between the harsh reality - where the black man has always been subjected to the enslavement and colonisation of the white man - and the ''dreamland'' to which Basquiat appeals, where he tries to establish the black man as a hero who is above adversity and overcomes it, making this struggle a learning experience. Many of Basquiat's iconic symbols are present in it.

Basquiat's portrait - Como homenaje a sus primeras obras sobre lienzo, esta obra se configura como una reinterpretación de su mítico lienzo con tablones de madera, pero cambiando los tablones por tuberías, que sostienen un retrato tapizado del artista. Su figura está en el centro de la imagen, con algunos símbolos recurrentes en sus obras, reconstruyendo la identidad de Jean-Michel Basquiat.
2. Dreamland - El díptico se basa en el concepto de la opresión de la raza negra, tan influyente en la obra del artista.
Elaborado en dos piezas, trata de mostrar el contraste entre la dura realidad -donde el hombre negro ha estado siempre sometido a la esclavitud y colonización del hombre blanco- y el ''país de los sueños'' al que apela Basquiat, donde trata de establecer al hombre negro como un héroe que está por encima de la adversidad y la supera, haciendo de esta lucha un aprendizaje.
