Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival is an international film festival taking place in Ankara, Turkey, focused on female directors. Uçan Süpürge Vakfı (Flying Broom Foundation) has been organizing Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival since 1998 and supporting women directors on making their visions seen.

As my Graduation Project 2, this project was about running a campaign and creating promotional materials for the upcoming Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival. I thought about how this festival could be made more inclusive and I aimed to raise awareness about LGBTQ community alongside women directors in cinema industry and unfair treats against their community. I defined my concept as insensitivity and the festival's theme as Unseen. 

Since this festival is meant to be more inclusive, I decided to design an alternate logo. Combining the lambda, a symbol which is being used as a roof symbol for queer community, with horizontally rotated female gender symbol which is meant to look like a flying broom, I aimed to give a clean, neat approach to the logo.

Since I wanted to show a different perspective to society and ask an open ended question to them and make them think about "what is normal, what is not and what defines it?", I designed a vertically rotated lens hood pointing at the passers-by. Iris designed as film roll box represents the lens itself.

I thought about how a protest narrative could be used and I was inspired by constructivist posters. As I progress through the project I decided it would be better to move towards to a perspective oriented side rather than a protest oriented one. As I dive deep into the camera visually, I changed the theme from Unheard to Unseen.

Purple colour in the film roll is the colour in the Flying Broom Foundation's logo. Purple colour is also associated as the spirit of the LGBTQ community.
