CONCEPT  Connected is a series of five photographs depicting five individuals in their private moment of isolation. Each individual is shown to be sitting at an unknown site. Lost in the dim emptiness of each space, they are disconnected from the noise and clutter of the everyday. The idea of loneliness is however questioned when we begin to observe what each person is actually doing – all are glued to a light source emitting from a mobile device that is in their hands. In what seems like a disconnection from their physical environment, there exists a connection to another world behind a screen.

When we view the photographs horizontally at once, the five individuals are aligned on the same plane. Lights and shadows from each site appear to connect from one photograph to the next. This visual connection invites us to question the relationship between each person in relation to their separate environments. Despite the obvious state of isolation we seem to have a need to connect the missing pieces in our minds. As we attempt to draw these relations, we find ourselves connecting to the narrative that is depicted in the five photographs.
