City of Auburn, Washington Recreation Guide Design

The City of Auburn's Recreation Division provides opportunities for the public to participate in diverse recreational programs and activities designed to meet the needs of the community. These programs include preschool, youth, teen, and adult leisure programs; youth, teen, and adult athletics; fitness and wellness programs; programs designed to provide social and recreational opportunities to senior citizens and those with special needs, and a host of special events suitable for the entire family and community at large.
Historically this brochure was created for print and mail distribution to all homes in the City. The resulting design was also made available online via the Parks, Arts & Recreation website. Participants could then go to a separate web page to search and find the class or activity in that system. This resulted in a disjointed, confusing multi-step process to register for a class or activity.
In the Fall of 2020 I was contacted by the Parks, Arts & Recreation team to redesign the program to refresh the look and feel as well as add interactivity for online versions. The result is a visually enticing and colorful design that features color coding for each of the categories as well as direct interactive links that take the users directly to the registration site, effectively removing several steps in the registration process.
