May 5, 2018 marked the official debut of NCT 127 in Japan with their single "Chain." To celebrate this pleasant first step, I designed a paper cup sleeve for Yuta Nakamoto, an Osaka-born member who would finally release an album in his motherland. Taken an inspiration from the music video that was recently launched at the time, a scene where Nakamoto sat in the back of a container truck with some cherry blossom blossomed next to him, and I think nothing could say Japan clearer than this. Not only this was a celebratory project, I wanted people to get to know Nakamoto and his group regardless of their interest in Kpop. The QR code was added to be a part of the design and recipients can take out their phone and scan to watch Chain's music video easily in one hand without having to look him up again. The cup sleeves were distributed at 5 popular cafes around Siam Square area in Bangkok and the physical event lasted for a month, while you can still check out UGC from both fans and non-fans using #TeamOsakaPrince on Twitter.
