Sia, a desk lamp.
Sia is your desk buddy. It lights & calms your space with a touch of delicacy. Its alabaster top disperses light beautifully and creates a visual texture that you wouldn't want to look away from. Ash wood's grain gracefully complements the natural whiteness of the stone. In natural sunlight or in the dark, the lamp is a pleasure to look at.
Process...
The objective of the project was to create a "soft furnishing." I decided to do so using the form of the object rather than the material. I started with sketch explorations, of course, but had to go back and forth between 3D modeling and sketching quickly. Once everything was finalized, the prototype was hand turned on a wood lathe. As challenging as it was, my first time working with Alabaster was a great experience.
