Create a logo and a menu to compliment for a German café.
Ideation & Brainstorming
Since this café was more geared towards families and hyper casual people such as a diner or even a deli, I decided to give the logo a more intimate & home-grown feel.
Taking a look...
I opted for hand-drawn typography with a homely aspect to it while still catering to its more playful nature to appeal to a more younger demographic.
I set out to design a logo that you would be able to see and recognize even in terrible light conditions. Think small-town-family-owned rendezvous point for all the would-be 'Goonies', 'Loser's Club' and Jugheads. That is to say, the idea is to fortify the logo as an iconic image.
Here is a mock up of a 'Lecker'(German translation for taste) themed menu with accents of the tree motif. The seemingly simple and atomic decoration of the menu is meant to provide a strict background to the menu. An almost background on background effect to that the individual tree elements do not stray the viewer's attention off of the identity of the café.
