[Rural Afro-Caribbean Housing: Spatiality, Tradition, and Future. New Perspectives for Afro-Rural Housing in the Black Communities of Montes de María, Colombia].
Traditional Afro housing is the only material heritage element capable of relating the spatial manifestation and cultural identity of Afro-descendant communities. This research reviews the identity roots of Afro-rural housing to propose development strategies that guarantee the differential ethnic focus of new housing policies. It is proposed to overcome the descriptive approaches on vernacular techniques and deepen the manifestation of the intangible heritage that Afro-Caribbean housing represents, to promote housing as a social articulator and guarantee of transmission of values that define the identity of black communities in the construction of the future.
