Isometric Typeface & Puzzle

Academic Project

Isometric Typeface & Puzzle
Isometric drawing is 3D representation of a 2D object on a 2D surface. The task assigned was divided into 3 parts:
Firstly, we had to find out letters and numbers in isometric grid from one angle without manipulating the grid. Basically, I had to strictly follow the grid without breaking it and use diagonal lines and was supposed to use the cubes to make it a bit tricky and find out design solutions which I found a few only.
In the beginning it was a bit complicated as I am not that good with perspective but as I started understanding the grid the process of finding alphabets and digits became much easier and faster. But few letters and numbers like “M”, “X”, “W”, “S” and “3”, “0”, “5” respectively were a bit complicated because they look similar which may create confusion for the user.
Moreover, the process was really helpful for me as I got a better understanding of isometric grid and typeface.
Secondly, we had to choose three alphabets, numbers of both mixed and make their different angles using the same grid. I choose 6, 5 and 2 and constructed as many angles as I could. Then we had to make a puzzle using all the angles of the alphabets and digits that we have constructed. We also posted on social media to see whether people could solve it and analyse the problem if there is any. We also solved it in class with our friends and many of them could solve as I made a medium level puzzle which is not so difficult to solve.
Thirdly, we had to make the poster.
