BACHELOR THESIS // Science Fiction Methodology

_

My Bachelorthesis.

Graduated in September 2020 in the studies integrated Product Design
at the University of Applied Sciences in Coburg, Germany.
_

Because I decided to write a fully theoretical thesis I set myself the goal to convey those almost 200 pages of information into a visually pleasing piece of print.

_

the topic of my thesis in short:

SCIENCE FICTION
and how to use it as methodology
to design more meaningful products for our future.
_

for those interested in a more detailed description:
This bachelor thesis deals with how Science Fiction in literature and film production could predict numerous novel technologies and describe and present realistic visions of futuristic products including their realistic usage scenarios.
In addition, it looks at how the future could possibly be, with regard to technological developments in the following points: exponentiality, innovation, disruption, obsolescence, mega trends & future trends, essential technologies, future scenarios, role of the designer in the future.
Furthermore, it deals with how the products of tomorrow (and of the day after tomorrow) could and should be, with a focus on functional principles and design rules and first methods of development.
The final part of the work is a Methodology-Toolbox that supplements the design process with the help of "Science Fiction" with various methods in order to think up and develop useful products for the future - and these before they even exist or are realizable in order to be able to test them with the help of realistic, fictitious scenarios.

THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION!

I decided to dig even deeper in the topic and continue researching for my master thesis in which I will also apply the described science fiction methodologies.

That's why this thesis isn't published yet. I'm planning to summarize the gained knowledge of my bachelor and master thesis into a non-fiction book in the future.
A non-fiction book about Science Fiction, hell yeah.

So stay tuned!
