Selected for the group show Sense Títol ‘10, an annual select exhibition of the top prospective graduates from the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Barcelona, Penique presented Forat de l’Escala.
The project gave meaning to an intangible space – the void of the stairwell. An inflatable over 16 meters high transformed this defunct space, over three flights of stairs, into a spectacle.
The inflatable took vertical, spiral form, delimited by the stairwell and the stairs themselves, to be experienced from both the inside and outside.
Sunlight during the day and artificial light at night generated a constant play of opaque red in varying intensities.
Penique productions es seleccionado para formar parte de la exposición colectiva Sense Títol: tradicional muestra anual de trabajos de la última promoción de la facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universitat de Barcelona. Para la efeméride, Penique productions presenta Forat de l’Escala, una obra de más de 16 metros de altura.
La propuesta delimita un lugar intangible. Visibiliza un espacio ignorado. Es un rincón de arquitectura inútil y no habitable que la espiral de la escalera limita y modela. La localización permite que la obra se experimente desde el interior y desde el exterior. La luz natural directa durante el día y la artificial de noche generan un característico juego de colores, transparencias e intensidades.
