The Dendrological Garden in Przelewice in Western Pomerania is a unique place
with a great history. , like many similar scientific institutions, its visual identity is neglected and outdated. This applies to both printed materials and the digital area - a website, fanpage on Facebook. Instagram profile does not exist.

The aim of my project was to refresh the image of the Garden and create a new website / application, as well as to produce materials for social media and to develop tools for creating further such materials in the future.

During the project, I visited Przelewice twice- in June and at the end of August.
I spent a few nights in the palace in the center of the Garden, I wanted to be able to take pictures at any time of the day and feel the atmosphere of this place.

During the two stays, I took photos and interviewed botanists and the management
of the Arboretum.

From an interview with a botanist who works there, I found out that each dendrological garden has its characteristic tree, "patron" which is its symbol. The symbol of the Dendrological Garden in Przelewice is Chinese Davidia - an exotic tree
with characteristic flowers. It is commonly known as the handkerchief tree, which grows
in the Japanese Garden zone.

The flower of Davidia remained in the logotype of the Garden, but it gained a more minimalist, symbolic form.

A dendrological garden is also known as an arboretum - this name is more international. This is especially important in West Pomerania, where many tourists come from Germany.
The garden also functions as the Przelewice Palace, where cultural
and commercial events are organized.

Each name is used by Przelewice interchangeably depending on the context.

The Palace and the Przelewice estate were built in 1801.
In 1821 it was bought by Prince Augustus of Prussia.
The dendrological garden was established in 1922 by Conrad von Borsig
- a German botanist, another owner of the Przelewice estate.

The visual identification of the garden, apart from the character of a scientific institution and a park with a unique landscape, is also intended to reflect the spirit
of the old Przelewice and the magical atmosphere of the dendrological garden.

Thanks to the courtesy of the management of the Dendrological Garden, an old commemorative album with photos was made available to me.
It inspired me to create a new website and to redesign.

One of the elements of the project is the guide application.
The application tells the story of the garden and guides users along its paths.
It also provides knowledge in the field of botany and dendrology and informs about interesting places during the walk.

The mockup is designed for Ipads 12”.
The idea is to make iPads available for rent when purchasing tickets.

Thank You!
