Aggregation and Fairness

Job
Create poster and flyer for a workshop on "Aggregation and Fairness" on 5-6 September 2013 at the Centre for Advanced study in Bioethics.
Topic
What should we do if we can save either a smaller or a larger group of persons? Since John Taurek’s seminal article “Should the numbers count?”, it has been widely discussed whether it is morally important how many persons are affected by decisions in trade-off situations. Arguments for saving the greater number are usually taken to rely on aggregationist assumptions. Yet those who argue that one should decide whom to save on the basis of a randomised procedure emphasise the importance of giving everyone a fair chance to be saved.
A better understanding of what lies at the heart of this debate might be gained by exploring the moral significance of aggregation and fairness as well as the relation between the two.
Realisation
I got me some capsules (containing herbal medication) from the local drug store and some disposable cups in different sizes. Some of the smaller cups were filled with one capsule each and positioned in the background. At the foreground six smaller cups were arranged beside one bigger cup. A friend of mine helped me shooting a photo where he poured seven capsules (6+1) with a spoon only into the bigger cup. Ambient light plus flash, only slight retouching thereafter in Photoshop.
