If the universe is a deity, then it is imperfect and flawed. It is growing to fully realise itself, to be like an ideal. Its mentor is the World Soul, the godhead from the World of Ideas. This latter god is nothing but grace and effortlessness in all its emanations. The Demiurge can only dream of becoming like its master one day.
