This brief required a redesign of a classic novel book cover, in order to appeal to a wider demographic.
The type and main components of the front cover were crafted using sculpting and modeling techniques. Photos were taken and the design was adjusted and enhanced with further images and photos.The image below of the typography was created using laser-cut MDF and parts from an old Airfix model.
The main cover design has a combination of photos of 3D crafted parts, digital aspects, and images. The unsettling nature of the piece echoes the dystopian nature of the book. The Juxtaposition of the technology and city scape of the "civilised", "WorldState" with the shack and wasteland of the "savage's" "Reservation" depicts the two main societies, locations and characters.
