Mac Demarco Typeface and Concert Poster
To create my typeface, I thought about the name of the album that I chose to focus on for the hypothetical concert, which was "Salad Days." This inspired my to go out and buy some carrots with the stems on them, lettuce, and tomatoes. The tomatoes were too messy, the lettuce was too much like a quill pen, but the carrot had a lot of character to it any way that I used it. Thus my typeface was created with a carrot and India Ink. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed figuring out how to create the typeface from scratch this way. I then created a concert poster and my final design ended up pulling from the artist's signature look, the gap between his two front teeth. From there, I went further with the salad theme and utilized some natural greens. We then learned how to print and mount our large print posters which was a great learning experience.
