Sans-Serif and Serif Glyph Composition
A study of Focal Point and Unity

I created a Serif and Sans-serif composition, using different glyphs from Franklin Gothic Heavy and Adobe Garamond Regular typefaces. Both pieces work because of their consistency and focus.
In the first image, for example, the letter “i” is the first thing that draws the eye to the right of the image, moving your attention to the “9” that cradles it in its mouth, and to the shelf of the “F.” In addition, you will see in the second image how the letter “o” becomes a focal point, since it is the smallest letter among the others and is framed by the letters “g” and “v.”
Both images follow a pattern of letters that are either mostly aligned and upright vertically, or all tilted diagonally, with a few variations in rotation to create interest. Overall, both artworks have points of convergence and uniformity, next to some augmented diversity, that catch the attention of viewers.
