BENGAL CREATIVE

Bengal Creative—a collective based in Los Angeles specializing in marketing, event coverage and photography—reached out to me to design some logo concepts for them. The client was initially inspired by an old Hells Angels leather jacket design, and shared several images with me, including photos of sew on tiger patches and old Ringling Brothers circus advertisements. My goal was to create a detailed tiger illustration that could function as both a logo and a patch to be sewn onto a jacket, hat or beanie.
Concepts

My early concepts depict an orange and black tiger, which I reflected across the y-axis so as to create a perfectly symmetrical logo. While these early designs helped me hone in on some font choices, I thought the tiger looked a little too much like a sports mascot. The client agreed that we needed to keep exploring, so I set out to design a more realistic and aggressive looking tiger.

Logo

The client and I both thought the tiger in the above design was a huge improvement. After trying out some different colors schemes, I landed on a CMYK color scheme. I've seen many logos use these colors as a basis for a design so I was reluctant to use them, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
