The artist practiced and took studies from skulls and figures to create this piece. The artist utilized many techniques such as carving, armature making, and overall additive processes. The artist took to the Philippine ideologies and made a sculpture with a skull meaning transformation and ascendancy and the placement of the chains around the wrists symbolize the breaking free of normalcy and subservience. The tattered robe shows the struggle for most to break free from the shackles of oppression and to enlighten themselves.

The artist used this opportunity to create a small sculpture piece reminiscent of post-modernist art. The artist took inspiration from Michelangelo with the description of his process saying “Michelangelo often sculpted as if he was freeing the figure from the marble” and though it is a common theme of liberty and breaking boundaries the artist wanted to try their hand at it. The meticulous process of the artist working on one side and moving left and right for finer detail gave the piece a stoic aura.
