UNCONVENTIONAL TYPOGRAPHY
Final video and stop-animation short.
Above is a select photo from the filming of the portfolio video. I thought it encapsulated the project as a while in a fun and cooler way.
Below are some features of the portfolio as well as its contents. The goal here was to make it feel like a treasure hunters notebook. All the original prompts we did for the class were based on the GOONIES and I switch gears to pay homage to my favorite Yankee Shortstop, Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto.
Here are some still of me working on the stop-motion animation. Which included printing out custom design letterforms on acetate and taping a few to plexiglass panels. I used a light box to illuminate them from behind and took stills as I moved them incrementally into place. This was a late, last minute option for the project that I think worked the best. Originally, I wanted to work in encaustic wax, but quickly found out how difficult that would be. Then I tried mode podge with better success, but the finished pieces didn't have the feel I wanted. The stop-motion animation really worked well here as an unconventional way to use typography.
