Skullcandy Package Redesigns

Skullcandy Packaging Redesigns

Project Concept:
The idea behind this project was to pick a brand packing, study it, and create packaging with words that could be associated with the brand creating a fictional but believable limited-edition redesign. For this project, I chose a brand I am familiar with Skullcandy, having used their products, I narrowed down my ideas to how someone should feel when wearing their higher-end headphones. The three words, and therefore the three redesigns, I chose were isolation, reverberation, and immersion. The packaging is embodying my interpretation of those words I decided to go with the Skullcandy brand along with carrying phrases taken from the original packaging. The original packing being from Skullcandy's wireless headphones named Crusher Wireless, an adjustable bass headphones.
Note: Left to right as shown below: isolation, reverberation, and immersion.
Isolation
Isolation to many may sound negative, but to be it can be a positive thing. Sometimes, the world around us can be noisy, crowded, and overwhelming. We need to sometimes put some metaphorical or actual distance between it and us by isolating ourselves by putting on the headphones you've effectively given yourself space, putting you in your audio-filled world.
The design of a calming isolated beach represents that space you give yourself from the world outside the headphones. While the offset internally blurred phrase "IN YOUR WORLD" represents the mindset, you put yourself in when donning the headphones.
Reverberation
Reverberation is a more literal and physical aspect approach to a redesign as it's meant to visually capture the feeling of the bass vibrations from the headphones.
I created the design to look purposefully vibrated and glitched to help capture the feeling of when you don the headphones.

Immersion
Immersion could be considered a sister to Isolation but instead of focusing on you and the world around you, immersion takes a look inside you when you wear the headphones. Everything else is a blur as you focus on the audio you're listening to or the task at hand, entering into an immersed state where what's going on around you doesn't matter right now; what matters is what you are doing at the moment.
The design takes the concept of immersion and gives it a more literal form. Everything aside from the text is blurred. It doesn't matter. What matters is the text and what it holds—a colorful paint drip of creativity.
