We The People
What does racial and / or social justice look, sound, or feel like to you when you express your feelings through your chosen art form?
I chose a photo composition for my art form because I like to express myself through technical art. When I think of justice my mind comes to racial injustice, protests movements and court rooms, memorial’s are some kind of closure. This photo goes hand in hand with legal, social,  and racial justice.
Racial/ Social Justice feels like to me is the rebirth of this country and what we can change if we talked more about these situations as a whole. If we discuss the problems in the justice systems and make government officials listen it can be a real change. All in all, here is my artist statement, This image is a memorial about the people that lost their lives to police brutality. It is like peace by giving people closure. We the people represent the justice system and what it should uphold, but it doesn’t do that yet. The text color was white and yellow, white means purity, good, and pure. Yellow represents happiness. The symbols were the flag, fire, and African American Woman. The flag represents American, fire represents burns of the rebirth, and the black woman is looking up to the sky for hope. In my piece there were severely  big strength's  throughout this piece of art which were that the flag represents the rebirth of the country and that there can be a change. We the people symbolize the constitution, the reform of the justice system so that way police officers don’t use excessive force against people. It also symbolizes us as America's citizens pushing that change. The black woman represents what it feels like to be black in America. She also represents the outgoing frustration that black people faced throughout the years and the way we have been silenced . This is important because a lot of people are scared to have a conversation like this, I feel that this needs to be addressed and people need to be more aware of these situations.
