Exoskeleton for Older People (E-Knee)

The E-Knee was a project for Blatchford Ltd. to design an exoskeleton to assist older people with independent living, minimise the chance of falls and give the wearer confidence. Fractured hips, predominantly from older people falling, alone costs the NHS £6 million a year.

The current assistive devices have negative connotations and uptake is a problem. Therefore, there is a real need for a device that can help the wearer but does not stigmatise them.

The E-knee is packaged in a way that it is easy to put on, functions all day long and can be worn discretely under clothes.
