Belarus Freedom Movement

Series of illustrations was created during September-December, 2020 and influenced by post-election political terror which is continuing to happen in Belarus.

It was my personal therapy and contribute to the overall eager for change. Starting to post the artworks on Instagram, I’ve surprisingly found myself among large Belarus freedom creative movement full of great artists and inspiring people. Despite all the negative news and continuing repressions in my homeland i believe that all of us are the witnesses and participants of national rebirth and important historical changes.

"Belarus Freedom Movement"

Personal reaction to post-election government violence and following huge March of Freedom.
"Kill 'em All!"

Telegram and Nexta channel are Lukashenko’s worst nightmare. The scene is also inspired by episode when president arrived at his Minsk residence in a helicopter, wearing a flak jacket and carrying an assault rifle.
"1st September"

Mass students demonstrations started from 1st September in Minsk. From the very morning on 2nd September there were many police forces inside the main Belarus universities. Some students were beaten and kidnapped by "men in black". Few days later some activists were sentenced to 20 and more days of prison.
"In the skies between Berlin and Warsaw"

Detached to anecdotal episode when it was claimed that Belarusian intelligence had intercepted a conversation between Germany and Poland. "President Lukashenko turned out to be a tough nut to crack. They’re professional and organized."
"Inauguration Of the Rat King"

Inspired by secret inauguration of Lukashenko. Whole ceremony were held in secret and even most of the guests did not know what is going to happen until the beginning. Source of infinite memes across belarusian internet.
"Autumn in Minsk"

Influenced by one of regular weekend protest activities in Minsk when protesters deconstructed water cannon of special police forces.
"Belarusian Dystopia"

The illustration was created in the end of October, 2020 under impression of absolutely stupid in their violence and any logic absence repressions of students, sportsmen, workmen, medics and cultural workers and act of burning a mural "100s anniversary of Kupalauski".
"Angel of Belarusian Justice"

How i imagine typical judge in nowadays Lukashenko’s Belarus. Personal reaction to an episode when two teenagers was sentenced to 2 years of colony for drawing on policeman shield.
"100 years of Kupalauski"

Detached to 100th anniversary of Yanka Kupala Belarusian National Theater - the oldest drama theatre in the country and one of the cultural treasures of Belarus. Most of the employees supported the protesters from the very start and then handed in resignation letters. Around 80 people retired and the theatre was closed for few month.

One of many solidarity stories in Belarus. There is no place for theatres or other creative energy sources under the regime.

Performance "Dialog"

Worker in uniform burning out mural "100th anniversary of Kupalauski" with my illustration at Kamennaya Gorka disrict. Strong metaphor showing attitude of belarusian government to everything which is "wrong" in nowadays Belarus.
