Moon Balloon
Assignment 1: Image Making - Color Illustration, GAD 2001
“Moon Balloon” is the rhyming pair I chose to illustrate in color. I wanted to create an image of a lone astronaut floating across space hanging on to a moon balloon. The scene I envisioned was one that felt comforting and recalled childhood memories and took inspiration from children’s book illustrations. My goal was to create an illustration that felt soft, avoiding perfectly straight lines or hard edges. I wanted the image to capture a sense of curious adventure. These goals informed my stylistic direction and color and illustrative choices.
