Ordinary Object Font Creation

Ordinary Object Typography: Font Creation
This was created as my final project in my Foundations of Design class. The goal was to create a font out of ordinary objects from around your house. I chose flowers as my object.
My process photos first show my original sketches which I then brought into Adobe InDesign to create a template for myself so I didn't miss any characters. At this stage I also came up with my font name, "Flower Child" and description.
I used blue, pink, and yellow flower petals to go with a primary color scheme. Some characters where more difficult to create so I would either use objects or create templates for myself to place the petals. I took photos of each character on a white sheet of paper.
I then brought each photo into Adobe Photoshop to remove the backgrounds of each image. I took the photos on the white paper so this step would be easier and I would get better results, and saved these images as PNGs so the backgrounds would remain transparent. My final step was bringing all of these images into Adobe InDesign and resizing so they would fit into my original template.
Here are some photos of my dog helping with (wanting so badly to destroy) this project :)
